Cool.
Haha nicely done! Classic song, cool flavour in its 8-bit form.

Cool, but...
Cool piece, but too repetetive. Even without major melodic/chordal changes, this one could have benefited hugely from variations in orchestration. It could work well cinematically, but to double as straight-up listening material it needs a bit of work. I just feel like there is a lot more potential within the already existent song structure - more that could be done within the boundaries, so to speak.
Still a good piece though, keep it up - the more classical/orchestral artists, the better! Oh, and would I be correct in guessing the use of Edirol Orchestral?

Yep!
I was aiming for that short "Kerry Muzzey" type of song. Not really a favorite unless you're a weirdo like me. But yeah, I see what you mean.
Thanks!
Beautiful
Beautiful in both composition and production. I'm not a big trance fan - But this is a cut above what one comes to expect in this genre from the Audio Portal.
Great concept and production
Excellent production, and very well-executed. I would have liked to hear some more variance in synth textures and perhaps some more genre-specific creative license taken with the actual arrangement of the original piece itself. When the piano comes in, it feels a bit TOO forced, perhaps have the electro instruments not cut out so abruptly.
Keep it up, cool and VERY listenable stuff.
Thank you VERY much for your positive input. I'm still somewhat working on it, as I am a perfectionist, and the work is seemingly... never done. =]
I did try adding in the synth with the piano before I came out with this on newgrounds, but it didn't have as dramatic an effect as just the piano alone. However, maybe it was a bit overdramatic, so I'm going to try out just keeping the synth in there.
Anyways, thank you very much for the review, and take care!
Classic piece, but....
This song is a classic, but you've taken no real liberties with the arrangement and it sounds like I'm just listening to it on the SNES.
Forgetting that, the song is WAAAY TOO LOOUD!! There's a difference between having a loud song and having a song that is VERY POORLY MIXED! At this volume, you get tons of distortion, which is a HUGE no-no.
Wow, it wasn't supposed to be this loud. I don't quite understand....I'm positive that it wasn't this loud when I was making it. Its probably Newgrounds. Damn, these things always happen to me, whatever, thanks for your review.
For the record the SNES version has no piano, probably an osc.
Nicely put together, but...
It's well enough put together arrangement-wise, but the instruments you've used just sound WAY too fake for me to enjoy this any more than a MIDI I would download somewhere.
Loopful!
This sounds familiar to everyone, becuase it probably uses loops. I haven't heard the loops before, but the style of composition, the way some of the sounds are cut, as well as the general lack of panning, really makes this song sound like it was made entirely out of loops. I would not be surprised one bit if it were.
I hate when people vote zero....
Why do people vote zeros all the time? I noticed your track had only one vote, and was rated "0". This deserves more than a zero!!!
Well-played, great tune, the guitars could use a bit more high-end. Good work!
Extremely Cinematic
Extremely cinematic. The use of effects gives it some kind of connotation that might be explained by film. Interesting use of dissonance and ambience in the beginning with the piano.
Experimenting with music, that's what it's all about...
Oh, and you're using EWQLSO, aren't you. Great symphonic library.
ewqlso.....hmmm sounds like a automated name that my ipod would choose... when its being gay.. but thank you.. im working on making a different feel in my music and hopefully i will get a longer song one of these days im not so impatient and anxious to submit...
but other than that... I appreciate your review.. and no i have no idea what ewqlso is....
Excellent
One of the best jazz pieces on Newgrounds, potentially one of the best, period. Most certainly beats out the #1 Top Song "of all time" in the Audio Portal in my opinion (one can only take so much trance music!)
Keep it up guys, super-strong composition and musicianship throughout. Bass, drums, keyboards, horns, all played beautifully! I know you don't have much to gain but motivation from all this praise, but at the moment it's hard to be really critical, especially since Jazz isn't a compositional style I visit often.
Did I already say keep it up? Well, please do, I'm always happy to have music like this for free haha!
