Cool!

Your stuff is good and very well made, but allow me to be the one dissenting voice in the crowd (don't hate me for it!) - I think this is quite overrated! The reviews below are all raving good things, and while this song isn't at all bad, it also isn't "amazing/perfect". I'd give a full explanation but words fail me at the moment. A short review would be that this sounds like many many other orchestral action-film-score songs I've heard before and doesn't really do anything to stand out, making it kind of.... meh.

Thought I'd add a little variety to these reviews.... but not just that, this is my real opinion.

Sweet.

Very cool. The beginning had me a bit worried, I found the sawtoothy bass (the one panned dead centre) was a little annoying, but the piano pulled it out. This is a great track. And while I've never played Chrono Trigger, you're right by saying "everyone knows this theme", it was familiar instantly even if I wasn't sure where it was from...

Keep it up!

Verrrry nice.

Why are people voting this stuff down?
Extremely chilled and mellow tune with very warm production, as it should be. Nice noodling and riffing going on with the guitars. Great to kick back and listen to.

Oh, and nice title :D

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Haha, thanks man. People rate it down, because..they are the people that get beat up EVERY day at school. They come home, and give zeros, and it makes them feel less like taking their own worthless lives. haha
Anyways, thanks for the comments. Glad you like it. \m/

Sounds like...

Just sounds like a Trance song stuck into orchestral instruments, rather than a properly orchestrated work. Work on that orchestration and adapt some of your electronica style into this new instrumentation, but be sure to do so realistically and effectively!

Reminds me of old Black Metal albums...

Reminds me of old Black Metal albums when the production was tinny and horrible and it was impossible to hear anything!

HOWEVER that does mean that it also is very atmospheric and intense. It's just that it's so annoyingly difficult to listen to that the music is really just lost. You guys should look into recording each part directly into your soundcard on your computer. You will not get a pro sound just like that, but compared to this it will be way better.

So yeah, keep it up, get a better setup for recording so we can actually HEAR the music that's going on, and KEEP ROCKIN!!!

(I didn't give this song a rating I didn't want to bring it down unfairly, as I can't really tell much about the music!)

Trinidex responds:

Haha aye fair enough, it is a little hard to hear the guitars over the drums. We'd love to multitrack the whole thing but we don't really have the time, or the means :( no decent microphones or anything.

Sound quality is basically down to the fact that audio from 4 amps and a drum kit are going into a tiny computer mic.

Thanks for your review ^_^

Cool track

Cool track, where'd you get those loops from? I know I've heard them before, but I forget where. Maybe in another song somewhere that used them.

Cool, but it's basically ALL LOOPS.

This song is very nice and expressive, but for me songs lose points (in the review, don't worry, I'll never zero-bomb anything) when they just use

LOOPS !!

especially for a solo piano piece where no other arrangement is added. I just think it's a bit too much of simple click'n'drag to really merit being shared on here.

However, that said, since all of the loops are great, the song is great as a result. So, points for that.

The review below talked about "clipping" which you didn't understand - what he means is that the volume levels are "clipping," as in, they are going over the threshold of volume (into the red) and giving you distortion. All you have to do is lower the volume of the track in whatever program you used, Garageband I assume, then make a new MP3. If you see the volume metre jumping into the reds often, and you hear the distortion on the piano, then you've gotta lower the volume until you have no clipping. There other, better ways to maintain volume and avoid clipping, but they are more advanced and probably can't be done in Garageband anyway.

Cool stuff!

Nice!

Cool little study going on. Garritan Stradivari being used, it sounds like.

Interesting the variety in variations you can pull of without any accompaniment to the theme!

BTW if you ask me, MaestroRage's stuff is way overrated, you deserve the top spot as best classical artist or even best artist on NG, period... But don't let that go to your ego, haha.
Keep up the good work as always!

Why does everyone hate Megaman 4?

I really wonder why so many people hate MM4 with a passion. It's actually a very fun game once you get good at it.

Anyway, game aside, I thought this track was pretty weak. How so? Well, I know every part of this Dustman song, having remixed it myself into an orchestral version a little while back, and even though you call this a "remix," you haven't changed a single thing. You just put new instruments on each track. There is nothing creative or new about that whatsoever.

Next time, try changing the style of the original song into a specific new genre, or try adding new stuff, or changing rhythms, etc. Try actually remixing it rather than just throwing the pre-existent tracks onto new instrument channels!!

knuxrouge responds:

How dare you accuse me of using pre-existing tracks? That hurts.
I start from a blank template when I start. I like to make it sound similar to the original, because thats how I do things. Other people do it, why not me?
I hate Megaman 4 because it went too far. Yeah, I played it and beat it, but you can't do shit without the eneny's weakness, while in contrast, you still stand a chance with out it in other Megaman games.
If you didn't like it then thats one thing, but please don't go around jumping to conclusions saying I used a pre-existing track!!

Good work!

A fun quirky piece that makes good use of contrapuntal woodwind melodies. Only thing I'd say is that the Bass Clarinet part gets a little repetetive rhythmically pretty quickly and starts to feel corny in an otherwise very smartly composed piece.

Keep it up, I hope you can record the live performance and upload it at some point in the future!!

Orion928 responds:

I really hope they record it at the contest so i can. making the shhet music is a bit problematigc... annoying programs
oh well thx for review and kind words^_^
